Home at Last – The End of the North of 60 Adventure

September 27 – Home to Osoyoos

There was no rush this morning.

We only had about 60 kilometres to go.

June had an 11:00 massage appointment, so she took Harley and planned to come down later. I pulled out around 11:00 and headed south toward Osoyoos.

After months of travelling, we were finally going home.

I arrived in Osoyoos and got set up in Site 95 at Nk’Mip RV Park.

And this time, it wasn’t just another campsite.

This would be home for the next two months.

When June arrived, we headed up to the condo to do some laundry. Since Leslie and Steve were back in Ontario it was just ours!

Later, we had Suzanne, John and Rio up to the condo for an Indian dinner with sushi appetizers while we watched the sunset.

It was a beautiful evening and a fitting way to celebrate finally being home.

September 28 – The Refrigerator Project

We weren’t quite finished with the adventures yet.

At 9:30 this morning, we headed over to U-Haul and picked up a cube truck.

Next stop was Home Hardware to pick up our new refrigerator.

Getting it into the motorhome was going to be a project.

We took the new fridge apart on the patio, piece by piece, and then carried all of the pieces inside the motorhome.

Once everything was inside, we had another important event on the schedule.

Wine tasting!

The five of us headed out and visited Silver Sage, Hester Creek and Road 13.

After enjoying some excellent Okanagan wine, we returned home to tackle the refrigerator again.

We spent the rest of the afternoon and evening putting it back together inside the motorhome.

There was one little glitch along the way, but eventually we got everything sorted out.

By 8:00 p.m., the new refrigerator was finally in place.

After all the refrigerator drama that had started way back in Alaska, we finally had a new one installed.

Hopefully, this one would behave itself!

September 29 – Saying Goodbye

This morning we said goodbye to John, Suzanne and Rio.

At around 9:30, we watched them head off toward the United States.

After travelling together for so much of the trip, it was strange to see them finally heading in a different direction.

Our own work wasn’t finished yet.

We spent the morning reorganizing the refrigerator and tidying up our home after the installation.

June headed back up to Penticton for her Botox appointment. While she was there, she picked up our stickers and stopped in to see Dave and Sue.

I stayed in Osoyoos and took care of a few errands of my own.

I went downtown and stopped at the optometrist, dentist, Home Hardware and the barber.

Back home, I fixed the closet door and finally turned the water on to the new refrigerator.

One more thing checked off the list.

Once everything was done, I sat outside and read in the sunshine until June returned.

And just like that, the trip was really over.

The motorhome was parked.

The new refrigerator was installed.

Harley was home.

Our friends had headed off in their own direction.

And after months of travelling through Alaska, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, Alberta and British Columbia, we were finally settled back in Osoyoos.

Home.

The adventure may have been over, but the memories were just beginning to settle in.

Here is our route, 13,115 kilometres and 144 days!!!!!
