Our fulltime RV living has come to an end, June 1, 2023

However, not our adventures or travelling!

June 1st marked a pretty significant milestone for us. Seven years ago, we left the farm and began this whole adventure. Now, seven years later, we had officially moved into the condo for the summer.

There are several reasons we’ve decided that spending our summers in a brick-and-mortar home makes more sense for us now. One is simply having a permanent home base in case we ever face another pandemic or similar situation where travelling and moving around becomes difficult.

We’ve also found that summer camping in Canada has changed the way we look at travelling. The campgrounds are often overrun with families and children, and there just aren’t enough adult-only campgrounds available. We’ve enjoyed the freedom of travelling in the motorhome, but the summer camping experience isn’t always what we’re looking for anymore.

The travel days themselves have also become more stressful. We’ve had more than our share of strong winds and bad weather on the road, and dealing with those conditions while towing the trailer has made some travel days considerably less enjoyable.

And finally, having easier access to our medical doctors is becoming more important. Being in one place for the summer makes that much simpler.

So, after seven years of living much of our lives on the road, we’ve made a change. The motorhome isn’t going anywhere—we’ll still use it for our travels—but for the summer months, the condo in Osoyoos will be home.

It feels a little strange after all these years, but also like the right evolution of our travelling lifestyle. We’ve had an incredible seven years on the road, and we’re certainly not finished travelling. We’re just changing the way we do it.
